NEWBURGH, IN - The town of Newburgh is getting $50,000 from the state to do a downtown revitalization planning study.
Town Manager Cynthia Burger told us Lt. Governor Becky Skillman awarded Newburgh money from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
Burger said the money will be used to study Newburgh's downtown area and business district for possible improvements. She said the study will include items such as sidewalk & curb improvements, streetscaping, beautification projects and other strategies that could bring more money to the downtown area.
Burger said this is the first study grant for downtown Newburgh since the 1980's.
Newburgh also recently created a Riverfront Development District that would make it easier for small businesses and cafes within 1500 feet of the Ohio River to get a liquor license.
