WABASH CO, IL - The body of a 58-year-old Illinois man was discovered about 200 yards away from his abandoned vehicle Friday evening near the Bon Pass River and N. 1570. Wabash County Sheriffs say David W. Geyer of Albion, Ill. was last seen Thursday around 8:30 p.m. His abandoned truck was discovered submerged in about four foot of back water the next morning.

Authorities say it appears that his vehicle became stranded in the water and he attempted to walk to a nearby family member's residence.

Several volunteers and agencies including Evansville Air-Evac conducted an area search for Geyer after his stranded truck was discovered.

Geyer's body was found around 5 p.m. Friday by a member of the Bellmont Fire and Rescue Team.

The Wabash County Sheriff's Office is heading the investigating with the assistance of the Wabash Co. Corner and Edwards County Sheriffs.
