Thousands of Census Jobs Coming to Indiana

Posted: Updated:

INDIANAPOLIS - The U.S. Census Bureau says it will recruit about 45,000 people across Indiana to work as census takers for the 2010 Census.

The Chicago Regional Census Center says it hopes to recruit at least 4,000 census takers in each of nine census areas across Indiana. Those areas are based in Anderson, Bloomington, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Gary, Lafayette, South Bend and two in Indianapolis.

The part-time jobs lasting two to six weeks will pay between $12.25 and $15 per hour. Tests for the positions are taking place through January at locations throughout the state.

Applicants are required to take a basic skills test and undergo a background check.

More information, application forms and a practice test are available at www.2010censusjobs.gov.
