Identity of Man Killed in Vincennes Hotel Fire Released

VINCENNES, IN - The Knox County Coroner's office has released the name of the man killed early Monday morning in a hotel fire.

Knox County Coroner Don Halter told NEWS 25 Ralph Pace, 30, of Indianapolis, died in the fire at the Days Inn in Vincennes.  The identities of those hospitalized has not been released as of the time of this post.

VINCENNES, IN - NEWS 25 learns one person was killed and three others were injured after an early morning hotel fire in Vincennes, IN.

A firefighter with the Vincennes Fire Department told us the fatal fire broke out at the Days Inn (formerly Quality Inn) around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

They said one person was pronounced dead at the scene, and two more people were taken to an Indianapolis hospital for smoke inhalation. The identities of the victims have not been released as of 6:00 a.m. Monday.  Authorities said a Vincennes Police Officer was also injured.

The VFD said fire crews were able to put the blaze out in about ten minutes, and contain the fire to a single room. However, fire officials said the whole building suffered smoke damage.

We are told fire investigators are currently trying to determine what caused the fire.
