WARRICK CO., IN - Heavy fog may have played a part in a two vehicle accident Friday morning that sent two people to the hospital.
The Sheriff's Office said the accident happened around 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of New Harmony Road & Eskew Road.
Deputies told us a Richard McNabb of Princeton, IN, was pulling his semi-truck loaded with coal onto New Harmony Road when his trailer was struck in the side by a pick-up truck driven by 47-year-old George Nash of Tennyson, IN. They said the pick-up ran under the trailer, pinning both occupants.
The Sheriff's Office said Nash was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville with extensive injuries, while his passenger, 57-year-old Janet Baker of Evansville, was flown by Life Flight to St. Mary's. The extent of her injuries was not released.
Deputies said they talked to McNabb about the wreck. According to them, McNabb said he had pulled up the intersection and stopped. He said he did not seeing any oncoming traffic and pulled onto New Harmony Road. The coal truck driver said there was heavy fog in the area at the time of the crash.
The Sheriff's Office would like to remind all drivers to use their headlights when traveling in fog, and drive at a slower speed than you would normally.
