HOPKINS CO., KY - After three weeks, detectives are ruling the death of a Dawson Springs, KY couple, a double murder.

Investigators say the couple was also robbed in their home. Friday the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office announced two arrests.

NEWS 25 is following this story.

Hopkins County detectives say one of these suspects was arrested, as far away as Minnesota. Detectives say the two friends from Paducah, KY committed this crime together.

The discovery was made three weeks ago today, when a concerned family member went to check on Mary and Lynn Moore. The two were found inside their Dawson Springs home, dead.

"The male victim was shot and the female victim had multiple injuries," says Matt Sanderson, Detective with the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives say the couple was robbed and murdered. Now, there are two arrests weeks after the couple was found.

23-year-old Dustin McKinney and 40-year-old Eddie Joe Goodnight are both behind bars for the crimes. Detectives say they're friends from Paducah.

"Some people started leading us in the direction of one of these individuals," says Sanderson.

Detectives say McKinney is the nephew of Mary Moore from a previous marriage.

He was picked up in Graves County, KY this morning and charged with two counts of murder, and one count of robbery.

Goodnight was arrested in Litchfield, MN now charged with robbery.

Detectives say both have a criminal past.

Sheriff's deputies say Goodnight had two warrants from Florida and Colorado for burglary.

Detectives couldn't say why the men may have targeted this couple. They say there are still a number of details to sort out in the next few days.

"We still have a lot to do ahead of us. We obviously have plenty for the charges we have now, but we still have to fill the holes," says Sanderson.

Detectives say they plan to take a trip north, early next week, to pick up Goodnight and bring him back to Hopkins County.

McKinney has already made it back from McCracken County and is now in the Hopkins County Jail.
