EVANSVILLE - An Evansville man arrested in August for trying to get pain killers with a fake prescription is back behind bars, this time for allegedly having prescription pills and methamphetamine.
The Evansville Police Department said Shawn Riley was arrested Tuesday near the CVS Pharmacy in the 4700 block of Lincoln Avenue.
Officers said they saw Riley leaving the pharmacy around 2:15 p.m., and knew he had been involved with several cases in the last six months involving prescription fraud. They said he was out on bond for obtaining drugs by subterfuge.
After talking to pharmacy employees, officers said they went to investigate Riley. Police reported Riley had a glass smoking device in his pocket that contained meth, and officers said they found Valium, Lortab and Xanax pills in Riley's car. Police said they also found numerous forged documents.
EPD said Riley was taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail and faces preliminary drug possession charges.
Riley was arrested in August for allegedly using a false prescription to get pills, and is involved in another case where he tried to use his driver's license to get pain killers for his girlfriend.
