OWENSBORO - The search for 27-year-old Brock Hanley led investigators on twists and turns all day Monday.

In the end, the search involved at least five law enforcement agencies and ended on a Louisville street.

Daviess County Sheriff's detectives say Brock Hanley walked into an Owensboro convenience store and demanded money. The clerk handed him close to a thousand dollars. Then they say Hanley shot him.

The clerk, 46-year-old Suba Singh, died at OMHS Monday morning.

"He made a spontaneous confession that he was involved in the shooting of a clerk and the robbery of the convenience store," says Daviess County Sheriff Keith Cain.

Cain says Hanley played with Daviess County officials and investigators throughout the morning. He confessed and said he'd turn himself in, but never did.

Cain got a warrant for his arrest, charging him with capital murder.

The search for Hanley led deputies across Daviess County, through Spencer County, to Evansville, and back through Daviess County.

Even late Monday night, Evansville police searched a room Hanley had rented for the night at the Casino Aztar hotel.

It was during that time, around 7:30 p.m., that Louisville Metro Police made their arrest.

Hanley's criminal record reveals violence and drug use.

"He has a lengthy criminal record that includes, but is not limited to, numerous misdemeanors many of which are drug related," Cain says.

He's already served two years in prison for armed robbery, and Daviess County Commonwealth Attorney Bruce Kuegel says this crime fits the death penalty.

Sheriff Cain says his deputies went to Louisville Monday night to pick up Hanley.

He'll be taken to the Daviess County Detention Center and arraigned Wednesday morning.

Commonwealth Attorney Bruce Kuegel says the case will go before the grand jury and at that time, more charges, in addition to murder, could be added.

OWENSBORO - The Daviess County Sheriff's Office and Owensboro Police Department have launched a large scale manhunt for 27-year-old Brock Antonio Hanley of Owensboro, who shot and killed a gas station clerk during an armed robbery early Monday morning.

Hanley confessed to sheriff's detectives that he in fact shot 46-year-old Suba Singh, the attendant at the Shell gas station off Bon Harbor Road.

"[Hanley] approached the clerk, demanded money, the clerk produced a tray of money from the cash register, placed it on the counter, [Hanley] then took the money and then shot him," said Daviess County Sheriff Keith Cain.

Singh was shot once in the stomach and again the wrist. He was taken to Owensboro Medical Health System for surgery, but was pronounced dead in the Intensive Care Unity just after 10 a.m.

"[Suba] was a very good man. A hard worker and honest man. I don't know why [he was shot]. He gave him the money and everything, so why did [Hanley] shoot him?" says gas station manager Jaswiender Singh.

Sheriff's officials had been in contact with Hanley during the morning, but communications ended just after 9 a.m. and he was last seen after 12 p.m. in Owensboro. Hanley told law enforcement he would turn himself in.

"[Hanley] did make an indication of the reason for it. I can tell you that reasoning is suspect at this time. His intentions of turning himself in have not come to fruition," said Cain.

Law enforcement believe Hanley is still in the Owensboro area and is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information you are asked to call either the sheriff's office or OPD.
