EVANSVILLE - Communities around the Tri-State and across the nation will pause Wednesday to recognize the service of local military members.
Veterans Day activities in Evansville begin at 7:00 a.m. on the LST 325. Veterans, active military and their families are invited to have a free breakfast on the ship.
A ceremony for Disabled American Veterans will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Locust Hill Cemetery. Vanderburgh County Commissioner Stephen Melcher, a veteran of the U.S. Army, will give the welcoming address.
The Vanderburgh County Veterans Council will also hold a remembrance ceremony at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery.
In Posey County, New Harmony School will host a special assembly with a local Purple Heart recipient as a guest speaker. All veterans are invited to attend.
Veterans can also get a free car wash on Wednesday at Shine On Express Carwash located on Burkhardt Road near Culver's.
