EDWARDS CO., IL - A southern Illinois couple has been formally charged with drug-induced homicide and involuntary manslaughter in the death of a five-year-old boy.
According to Edwards County Circuit Court documents, Joshua and Crystal Nash were formally charged on Thursday with drug induced homicide, two counts of involuntary manslaughter, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance to a person under 18.
Edwards County State's Attorney Michael Valentine says five-year-old Jason Hoy was found dead in a Grayville apartment in June. Court documents allege Joshua and Crystal gave excessive amounts of medication containing codeine and diphenhydramine to Jason, causing his death. The couple also allegedly gave the child Adderall, which contains amphetamine.
