TRI-STATE - One Tri-State school district is getting some extra funding, another isn't.
In a referendum vote residents in Patoka and Cass Townships in Dubois County voted yes to a property tax increase to pay for improvements to Southridge High School and Southridge Middle School.
In Perry County, a similar referendum for Tell City High School was voted down.
The question on the ballot for Dubois County was:
"Shall Southwest Dubois County School Corporation issue bonds or enter into a lease to finance the renovation of and improvements to Southridge High School and Southridge Middle School (collectively, the "project"), which Project is estimated to cost not more than $22,500,000 and is estimated to increase the property tax rate for debt service by a maximum of $0.59?"
The result of voting was: 861 for Yes and 698 for No
The question on the ballot for Perry County was:
"Shall Tell City-Troy Township School Corporation issue bonds or enter into a lease to finance the renovation of and improvements to Tell City High School to accommodate grades 7 - 12 (collectivly, the "Project") , which Project is estimated to cost not more than $10,000,000 and is estimated to increase the property tax rate for debt service by a maximum of $0.28."
The result of voting was: 749 for Yes and 772 for No
