INDIANAPOLIS - A date has been set for the execution of an Evansville murderer. The Indiana Supreme Court set a December 11, 2009 execution date for 49-year-old Eric Wrinkles.
Wrinkles was convicted of three counts of murder by a Vanderburgh County jury in 1995 for the shooting deaths of his estranged wife Debbie, her brother Tony Fulkerson and Fulkerson's wife Natalie.
The Indiana Supreme Court says Wrinkles appealed several times to overturn his conviction and sentence, arguing the jury was prejudice towards him because he was wearing a stun belt during his trial. His appeals were denied, and the high court ordered he be executed before sunrise on December 11th.
A court spokesperson said Wrinkles can still ask Governor Mitch Daniels for clemency.
Wrinkles has been incarcerated in the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City since 1995.
