UNION CO., KY - A lengthy investigation comes to a close Saturday with a Sturgis Ky. man behind bars. Police say while executing a search warrant on October, 07 an explosive device and materials to manufacture methamphetamine were discovered in 38-year-old Sean M. Powell's Union County Home.

Kentucky State Police say Powell had warrants out for his arrest but was not home during the search. On Thursday Henderson KSP investigators received information that he was located in a wooded area off of Oriole Drive in Lyon County, Ky.

Further investigation revealed that an active meth lab was inside a motor home in that area and that Powell had barricaded himself inside. After a 7 1/2 hour ordeal Powell was apprehended without incident.

However, police say prior to his arrest Powell ingested an unknown substance and was admitted to the Caldwell County Hospital for observation. Powell was discharged from the hospital Saturday and lodged at the Caldwell County Jail.

Powell was charged with Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction 3rd Degree, Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Offense, Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Possession of a Methamphetamine Precursor 1st, Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia in Improper Container with Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Offense and Possession of Marijuana.
