EVANSVILLE - Nearly one million dollars is heading to the University of Southern Indiana for various repair projects around campus.
State Representative Trent Van Haaften announced Friday that members of the State Budget Committee approved the request for about $970,000 to upgrade classrooms and infrastructure.
Van Haaften provided this breakdown of how the money will be used:
- $323,985 to renovate classrooms, laboratories and faculty offices in the Science Center;
- $259,640 to replace the roof on the Physical Activities Center;
- $150,000 to replace the roof on the Science Center;
- $130,000 to upgrade the heating and air conditioning system in the Wright Administration Building
- $106,978 to repair damaged sidewalks on campus.
Van Haaften said these projects aren't particularly glamorous, but are essential for the university to continue its mission to provide quality education.
