NEWS 25 - WEHT: Evansville, Henderson, Owensboro-9-Year-Old Boy Killed in ATV Accident

POSEY CO., IN - Authorities in Posey County said a 9-year-old boy was killed in an ATV accident Wednesday night. The Posey County Sheriff's Office said an adult and 12-year-old girl was also sent to the hospital following the accident on Maier Road.
The Sheriff's Office told us Phillip Gross was driving the ATV just before 7:00 p.m. Wednesday when a dog ran into the roadway. They said the ATV hit the dog causing Gross to lose control and overturn in a ditch. Deputies said the ATV landed on top of Gross and the 9-year-old boy, while the 12-year-old girl was thrown from the vehicle.
Authorities said the 9-year-old was flown to St. Mary's Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The Sheriff's Office said Gross was taken by ambulance to St. Mary's and the 12-year-old girl was taken to Deaconess Hospital. They said the girl was treated and released.
The Posey County Sheriff's Office said the names of the children are not being released until deputies finish their investigation.
