Chad Shoulders CARMI, IL - Illinois State Police (ISP) say a fatal accident that took the life of two teens and left one seriously injured early Saturday morning was discovered by a passing motorist approximately three hours after it happened. ISP say it happened along White County Road 2550 N. around 4:30 a.m. and wasn't discovered until about 7:27 a.m. Police say the 18-year-old driver, Evan R. Ibbotson of Albion Ill., and a 16-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by the County Coroner. The second passenger, 24-year-old Benjamin L. Jostes also of Albion, was taken by helicopter to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville for treatment of serious injuries. Police say the preliminary investigation indicated that Ibbotson was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Z-71 pick-up truck traveling eastbound when he failed to navigate a curve. The vehicle then left the road way and overturned. Police say at the time of the crash none of the occupants were wearing a seatbelt. Police also said the pick-up truck received major damage. The accident remains under investigation.
