EVANSVILLE - Police arrested two Evansville men Friday after finding methamphetamine, anhydrous ammonia and other items commonly used in manufacturing methamphetamine inside their home.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, officers arrested Richard Williams and Christopher Gordon Robinson after detecting a strong odor of anhydrous ammonia coming from inside their home while searching for a subject wanted on a felony warrant.

Officers say they were conducting surveillance on the 700 block of E. Franklin where they suspected the subject to be located. Officers questioned three subjects jump starting a car outside of the home about the wanted subject. They said they were jump starting the car for a female who was inside the house. The men told police they didn't know her name and officers suspected she was the wanted suspect.

Police knocked on the door to ask about the subject. When Williams answered the door police say they detected the strong odor of ammonia and asked if they could come inside. Williams said they could not. However police told him they could smell the dangerous chemical and was coming inside to secure the area for the safety of other people inside. Police then noticed Robinson inside the kitchen wearing latex gloves and asked him to sit down on the couch.

After searching the kitchen officers found two coolers - one with anhydrous ammonia - methamphetamine and other commonly used items in manufacturing meth. A narcotics officer was called to the scene and other items were found including a green leafy substance that field tested positive for THC.

Officers arrested Williams and Robinson and charged them with manufacturing methamphetamine, Class B felony, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Class D felony.

Charges for the THC were not listed in the affidavit and the wanted subject was not mentioned as being found at the home.
