DUBOIS CO., IN - The mother of a 2-year-old old Daviess County boy, who was left in her care after he tested positive for meth, has pleaded guilty in his beating death.

Court documents show 23-year-old Vadney Michelle Blake of Cannelburg, IN pleaded guilty to battery resulting in death. A felony neglect charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Blake admitted to hitting her son, Jalen, with a candle the day before he died of head trauma in June 2008.

The Indiana Department of Child Services reportedly left Jalen with his mother after learning he had tested positive for methamphetamine several weeks before his death. Records show the state talked to Vadney Blake, but did not remove the child from her custody.

Blake is scheduled to be sentenced on November 2nd, and faces 20-50 years in prison.
