POSEY CO., IN - A Florida man was sentenced in federal court Tuesday for using a stolen identity to buy a car in Posey County.
The U.S. Department of Justice said 56-year-old Richard Marzullo, of Orlando, FL, was sentenced to 70 months in prison following his guilty plea to aggravated identity theft, wire fraud, interstate transport of stolen property and conspiracy.
Prosecutors said Marzullo admitted that he bought a jeep from Expressway Jeep, based in Mount Vernon, IN, using a stolen identity. They said he applied for and received a loan for a Jeep from Expressway Jeep, and the vehicle was delivered to the airport in Nashville, Tennessee, at Marzullo's request.
Authorities said Marzullo testified in court that he got the stolen identity information from another person he was cooperating with in commission of the crime.
