WARRICK CO., IN - A burglary suspect that ran from Dubois County Sheriff's deputies on Thursday is in custody in Warrick County. The Dubois County Sheriff's Department said 29-year-old Robert T. Chapman was captured in a Boonville hotel room Thursday night after he was able to elude authorities during two earlier manhunts.
Authorities started to look for Chapman around 9:00 a.m. Thursday when we ran from a Dubois County Sheriff deputy during a traffic stop along CR 1025S. The Sheriff's Department said the deputy pulled the car over because it matched the description of a suspicious vehicle that left a house in Holland, IN. They said Chapman ran into a densely wooded area, while the driver, 25-year-old Christopher L. Selig of Vine Grove, KY, was arrested and charged with possession stolen property.
Authorities searched the area for Chapman, which prompted the lockdown of Holland Elementary School. After hours of searching, the Dubois County Sheriff's Department said the search was called off.
Then around 4:00 p.m., deputies said they got information that a man matching Chapman's description was seen coming from a wooded area near CR 720W and 1200S, and was headed west on Interstate 64. They said another manhunt was conducted in the area but Chapman was nowhere to be found.
The Sheriff's Department said Chapman's day on the run ended Thursday night when the Warrick County Sheriff's deputies found him at a hotel near Boonville. They said he was arrested and taken to the Warrick County Jail on charges of escape, possession of stolen property and battery of law enforcement.
