Authorities Search Dubois County Cornfield for Suspect

DUBOIS CO., IN - NEWS 25 is in Dubois County where authorities are searching a cornfield for a person of interest in connection with two burglaries. 

Daviess County Sheriff's deputies told us authorities have set up a perimeter around a cornfield near Holland, IN where the suspect fled.

The search began when Sheriff's deputies spotted a car that matched the description of a vehicle seen near the scene of two daytime burglaries in Dubois and Spencer counties. Deputies said they stopped the car and approached the passenger side.  They said that's when the passenger jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the cornfield.

Authorities said the driver of the car was arrested. They told us they are in the process of questioning him about the identity of the passenger.

Deputies said guns were found in the car, but are not sure if the suspect they are looking for is armed or not.  They told us the suspect was wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans when he jumped out of the vehicle.

The suspect prompted a lockdown of a nearby elementary school and daycare, but that has been lifted.  Dispatchers told us residents of Holland, IN were also asked to stay inside their homes Thursday morning.

DUBOIS CO., IN - Dispatchers in Dubois County say the town of Holland, IN is on lockdown while authorities look for a burglary suspect.

They said residents in Holland are being asked to stay in doors while authorities look for a man who ran from police during a traffic stop.

Dispatchers said police stopped the man because he is a person of interest in some residential entry cases.  They said the suspect was wearing an orange tank top and blue jeans, and had a long black pony tail.  Authorities said there is reason to believe he is armed & dangerous because weapons were found in his vehicle.
