WAYNE, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities have identified three family members killed in a Labor Day auto accident.
Wayne County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Hunt said Tuesday that 38-year-old James Ailiff and 2-year-old James Ailiff Jr. of Belfry, Ky., died in the two-vehicle crash on U.S. 52 about 2 miles south of Fort Gay. Also killed was 71-year-old Williamson resident Barbara Ailiff.
Authorities say James Ailiff's wife and 3-year-old daughter survived. So did a Kentucky man and his estranged wife from Fort Gay and their two children who were riding in a pickup truck that struck the Ailiff's vehicle. Hunt says a preliminary investigation shows the pickup skidded across the center line.
Hunt says the survivors remain hospitalized, but are expected to live.
