WALSHVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in southern Illinois say a 55-year-old man drowned in a private pond in Montgomery County.
Jimmy Pennington died Friday night at a hospital after being pulled from the pond near Walshville. That's about 30 miles northeast of Alton.
Authorities say witnesses reported that Pennington had been swimming in a pond when he began having difficulty, struggled and then disappeared under water.
