
MUHLENBERG CO., KY - NEWS 25 has learned that health officials are treating thirty-seven patients for the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu.
A Kentucky health official told us the patients are students at the Muhlenberg County Job Corps; a place where people ages 16-24 live and learn job skills.
NEWS 25 also spoke with Fri Pasupulati, an epidemiologist with the Pennyrile Region Health Department. He told us of the 37 potential cases, six were tested for the virus. Five of them came back positive, and one negative.
Pasupulati told us they were discovered last Friday, and have since been isolated, and undergoing treatment. He said the patients are responding well to the medication TamiFlu.
The patients range in age from 16-25.
