Highlight on Health - Oliver Pain Clinic

Dr. Randall Oliver keeps one goal in mind with every patient at Oliver Headache and Pain Clinic, and that is each person's return to normal functioning. Oliver Headache and Pain Clinic, a multidisciplinary center, remains the longest standing pain clinic in the area. Patients often travel 3-5 hours to this regional referral center to seek relief from headaches, arthritis, and pain in the neck and back. Such pain impacts all aspects of a person's life, including the ability to work, play with children, and participate in a multitude of other daily activities.

In the 25 years Dr. Oliver has been in practice, he has lectured on headaches and pain to physicians and other medical leaders as far away as Tel Aviv, Israel. Some organizations to which Dr. Oliver has presented include the American Academy of Family Practice, American Academy of Pain Management, and the American Headache Society. He has authored multiple articles on pain and related topics along with the completion of multiple research projects on headaches and pain. Dr. Oliver also hosts biannual pain symposiums in order to share his knowledge with fellow colleagues. Aside from headache and pain evaluation and treatment, Dr. Oliver's specialties include neuralgias, arthritis (including soft tissue and musculoskeletal pain), fibromyalgia, IV therapies, and trigger point injections.

Staff members at Oliver Headache and Pain Clinic consistently strive toward their goal of returning all patients to normal function. Medical care at OHPC is based on mutual understanding, cooperation, and trust between the patient and physician. More than 1,000 new patients are referred to Dr. Oliver each year, and the majority of them experience decreased duration, frequency and severity of headaches and pain, and decreased use of analgesics. The clinic covers 9,000 square feet, with 20 employees and on-site x-ray and treatment rooms. An accredited Pain Facility by the American Academy of Pain Management and a regional referral center for the Midwest, it also serves as an active research site, making it cutting-edge in migraine and pain.

Working alongside Dr. Oliver are Trish Stuckey, NP, and Jim Schroeder, LCSW. Stuckey has been with OHPC since 1993. With her extensive knowledge in the treatment of chronic pain and headaches, she gives lectures to healthcare professionals, as well as the general public. Trish recently presented at the American Society of Pain Management Nurses National Meeting. Schroeder shares Dr. Oliver's belief that pain impacts a person not only physically, but also emotionally through depression and anxiety. He specializes in stress management, child behavior, and family therapy. Schroder has also coauthored several articles on such subjects as depression and the psychological response in fibromyalgia patients and has been published in several respected medical journals.
