NEW YORK (AP) - A missing angel is returning to a New York City cemetery.
Five sculptors have been chosen to submit designs for a new "Angel of Music" at Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery. The winning design will be unveiled in October.
The 4-foot-10-inch-tall marble statue mysteriously vanished more than 50 years ago from the gravesite of 19-century American composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk.
Photos of the missing statue show the angel's left hand held a tablet and had a trumpet tucked under one arm. Her right hand was extended as if leading an orchestra. A classical lyre was at her feet.
The sculptors are the New York City team of Jill Burkee and Giancarlo Biagi (bee-AH'-jee), Florida's Myra Weisgold, Colorado's Kirsten Kokkin, and Indiana's Tuck Langland.
