LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Family members say four Midway residents who were killed in a fiery crash on a Georgia highway were en route to an American Idol audition in Florida.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reported Saturday that 20-year-old MaRhonda Collins of Midway had been planning to audition for the television show next week.
In addition to MaRhonda Collins, 40-year-old Jerome Roberts, 41-year-old Cheryl Collins, and 10-year-old August Roberts, all of Midway, Ky., were killed Thursday, according to Georgia State Police.
"MaRhonda had such hopes and dreams," said Cheryl Collins' sister, Polly Inman, who said the family pooled their money for the trip.
Georgia State Patrol officials are investigating the accident. Police say a highway dispute could have led to the crash.
