EVANSVILLE - Authorities arrested a man overnight trying to rob an Evansville liquor store.
Evansville Police arrested Robert Ellis early Friday morning after they said he broke into the Apollo Liquors at the corner of Franklin & Garvin.
According to the police affidavit, witnesses told officers Ellis broke out the window on the front door and tried to crawl through it.
When officers arrived, they saw Ellis walking away from the liquor store and arrested him. They said Ellis had fresh cuts on his hand and pieces of glass stuck to his shirt.
Police said Ellis was taken to Deaconess Hospital for treatment on his hand, and then taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail where he was booked on burglary and criminal mischief charges. EPD said Ellis was currently on parole.
