MADISONVILLE, KY - A Madisonville man is charged with murder after hitting two people on a sidewalk and killing one of them.
Kentucky State Police said 20-year-old Erick Hendrix was drunk when he hit two women on a sidewalk along Noel Avenue in Madisonville just before midnight. Witnesses told troopers, Hendrix was driving fast down the road when he lost control and went up on the sidewalk hitting 30-year-old Lachelle Williams and 39-year-old Thomasa Wallace.
Authorities said Williams was pronounced at the scene, and Wallace was taken to the hospital for several injuries.
KSP said Hendrix didn't stop and continued down the sidewalk before eventually hitting a building and utility pole at the intersection of West Noel and Park Row. Troopers said Hendrix and three passengers in his car then ran away from the scene. They said Hendrix turned himself in at the Madisonville Police Department.
KSP said Hendrix faces several charges including murder, driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a vehicle. They said this is the second time Hendrix has been charged with driving drunk.
