LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A new Lincoln Memorial at Louisville's Waterfront Park will be dedicated June 4, complete with a 50-piece orchestra.
The memorial features a 12-foot-tall statue designed by Louisville sculptor Ed Hamilton. The statue was recently cast at a foundry in Baltimore and will be trucked to Louisville this week.
The Courier-Journal reports thousands of people are expected to attended the evening dedication, which will begin at 8:45.
Free bottled water will be available, and the Kentucky History Mobile will be on hand.
The budget for the memorial project was about $2.2 million, of which $2 million was provided by the state and most of the rest by the family of the late Louisville business leader Harry Frazier.
